Three Gorges of the Yangtze
Last Chance to see the Yangtze River Gorges
![]()
Legendary rivers -- shaping the histories of nations, controlling men's lives, influencing great literature -- these powers of nature have dominated men's imagination throughout the centuries. Now modern technology has given us the ability to master and control these great forces. The latest example of this mastery will be the completion of the Yangtze River Dam this fall. It will no doubt prevent the loss of lives, but it will also mean the loss of one of the scenic wonders of the world, the Three Gorges area of China, as well as a score of traditional villages along the river. Travel now on one of the remaining tours and it is still possible to experience this part of ancient China before it is gone forever.
During the last couple of years, several new ships have been built to handle the anticipated surge in tourism. These vessels have more Western amenities than those used in the past and are quite comfortable. A sampling of trips from established companies experienced in China travel include a 10 day trip in March for $1,990 or an 11 day trip with later dates for $2690 per person to a 17 day trip for $2870 or even a 24 day one for $3430. All of these tours include, in addition to air from Cleveland, accomodations and meals, escorted sightseeing though all the major sites and a 4-night cruise on the river. Anyone who has traveled the long distance will agree that there is no sight like the Imperial magnificence of the Forbidden City or the massiveness of all the terra cotta warriors at Xian.
The history of China is long and enduring. History is usually discussed in terms of dynasties or centuries. But 1997 will change all that, and mark truly momentous changes in the Middle Kingdom. Come to China in this Year of the Ox. Call and talk about which of the many wonders has inspired your dreams.
Huanying, or Welcome. I look forward to seeing you in China.
