Maybe it's Korea's Shamanist traditions that place changseung (totems) on guard at the
entrances to many towns and important places. The characters above watch over Songyojong,
the House of 100 Rooms. Could it be that part of their job is to make sure that no one gets in
without paying the 1000 won entry fee (less than US$1)?
