Many Korean parents begin their children's English training early. Without a good command
of English, a child won't get good marks on his English proficiency tests, and then she won't
be admitted to the best high school, or the best university. Without a degree from a top
university, the student will have to take a less satisfying job with less pay. This means less
prestige and possibly a less advantageous marriage. No wonder English teachers are in demand.
