Some have said that Korea is in many ways like the US was in the 1950s. It's only superficially true, and those ways are rapidly changing.

Still, some American memories do find echoes in Korea. In the US nineteen-fifties, milk trucks still delivered to boxes on our porches. In Korea, a half-century later, the ubiquitous motor scooters tow milk to homes and apartments.
