Stumping for a candidate on a Kangnung street.

In America, politicans seem to begin campaigning for re-election the day after taking office. Although some unofficial campaigning is carried out via news releases, Korea's official campaign period is mercifully brief, just a few weeks.

The methods are considerably different, too. These campaigners are typical, waving signs bearing the face of their candidate. Others dance to music blaring from a nearby sound truck, presumably the candidate's theme song.
