BLI is on the third floor of this Kangnung office building.
The Christmas decoration outside BLI's door remains year round.

Best Language Institute is located in Kangnung, in South Korea's Kangwon Province. It's one of hundreds of small, independent commercial English-language schools in South Korea. These schools are a type of hagwon and generally teach all ages -- school children, college students, and adults.

At BLI, classes meet 6 hours or more per day, with the lower grades in the morning or afternoon, and the upper grades and adults in the afternoon and evening. Best sometimes conducts offsite English tutoring for government and business offices.

BLI is a family-run hagwon. It was founded by the brother of the current director, Mrs. Kim Eun Ryung. The school has 6 employees, one of whom is usually a native English speaker.

When Margaret taught at Best in 2000 and 2001, they were housed in the downtown Kangnung office building shown above. In the Spring of 2003, they moved to a newer facility on the outskirts of Kangnung. It's larger and more modern, and it's closer to the city's newest apartments. This should bring in a more affluent clientele.
