Mrs. Kim's brother, now a university professor in Seoul, is the founder of
Best Language Institute,
and Mrs. Kim is the institute's current director. Margaret stayed with Mrs. Kim for three months at the beginning of her year in Korea. Koreans expect to be called by their family names, and allow only their closest friends to use their given names. Surprisingly, the English titles Mrs. and Mr. are now widely accepted and correct forms of address for this purpose. One's supervisor should ordinarily be called won jang nim (director), but it's best to inquire rather than assuming.
